Story
My grandma is pretty much the reason I took up running.
She started her running journey later on in life, choosing to run in the dark so no one would see her (which is crazy in today's world). When she ran the London Marathon in 1992, she came 2nd for her age group (60-64 years) with a time of 4 hours 5 minutes and 55 seconds - a crazy quick time I can only aspire to hit!
Having been running now for around 2 years and saying "one day maybe I'll run a marathon", I've decided now is the time to just do it.
I may not be able to hit 4 hours 5 mins, but this marathon is for my grandma, who I know will be with me every step of the way. I'm choosing to honour her by fundraising a little bit of money for one of her other loves besides running - cats! Tommy, Blossom, Willow, Enid, Hoopa...her cats loved her as much as she loved them.
I'm very much hoping her words [on running] "you get a surge of energy towards the end" will ring true for me.
For you, Gaga x
