Story
Here I go again, taking on my greatest and toughest challenge yet: swimming the English Channel solo. That’s right, this time, I’m swimming the entire way, all 21-30miles (depending on conditions) from England to France.
Why?
I ask myself this every morning at 5:30 AM as I drag myself to the pool before work! But deep down, I know the answer, this has been a lifelong goal. After completing the relay in 2023, I knew I had to come back and conquer the full distance on my own.
About the swim
✅ One of the toughest endurance swims in the world: Fewer people have swum the Channel solo than have climbed Mount Everest!
✅ Cold water, no wetsuit: Channel Swimming Association rules mean I can only wear a swimsuit, cap, and goggles. The water will be 15-18°C (59-64°F).
✅ Battling tides and currents: The swim isn’t a straight line; powerful tides can push swimmers off course, making the journey much longer than the 21-mile direct route.
✅ Jellyfish, ships & exhaustion: I’ll be navigating through busy shipping lanes, avoiding jellyfish, and swimming non-stop for 10-20+ hours, depending on conditions.
