Trek Sahara 2027 · 13 October 2027 to 18 October 2027 · Start fundraising for this event

Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing specialist, palliative care and support to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Our support begins from the moment someone is diagnosed, through to palliative care and ultimately end of life care.

Story

In October 2027, we’re swapping the sofa for the Sahara and taking on the challenge of trekking across the desert with a group of others — all to raise money for a cause that is very close to our hearts.

Our Grandma was cared for by St Luke’s Hospice during the final few weeks of her life. The care and support they gave her, as well as the support they gave our family, meant so much to us during an incredibly difficult time. We wanted to find a way to give something back by taking on this challenge and raising money for St Luke’s.

St Luke’s provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care to local people, completely free of charge. They support patients, families and carers through some of the toughest times, and over 80% of the cost of running the Hospice comes from donations from the local community.

So, we’ve signed ourselves up for several days of walking across the Sahara Desert — heat, sand, blisters and all — with the aim of raising as much as we can for St Luke’s and in memory of our grandma.

We’d be hugely grateful for any support. Every donation will help St Luke’s continue the amazing work they do for local families.
