The Steve Burne Charitable Trust is a non profit organisation dedicated to raising funds for projects and individual charities in the memory of the late Stephen Burne.

Story

After watching my Uncle put up the strongest fight with cancer and endure some pretty challenging charity fundraisers throughout his life, I thought it was about time I set myself a challenge in his memory.

I’m running a 10k!!

As many of you know, I’ve tried couch to 5k countless times, and never managed it! To be quite honest, I find running quite boring (and VERY hard) but that’s the whole point of these things, isn’t it?!

That’s why I’ve signed up for my first 10k. I know for some, 10k is their weekend coffee run - but I struggled to run 500m at the start of this journey. I ran my first ever 3k this week, and I’m sat writing this as I’m about to challenge myself to 4k - that in itself feels a huge achievement - [UPDATE - COMPLETED IT!!!]. However, the thought of 10k still feels rather unnerving.

Let’s not forget to mention that Neil will be joining me for the ride too… he’s been on quite the journey with me these past couple of months. I’ve cried, moaned and cried some more - it’s touch and go whether he’ll be running alongside me or running away from me on the day. Stay tuned!

In all seriousness, this challenge is nothing compared to the gruelling illness my Uncle fought. I’ll be thinking of him when it gets a little hard - please donate what you can to a charity that looks to keep his legacy alive, and is extremely close to our hearts.

The Steve Burne Charitable Trust raises money for The Christie and The Ronald McDonald House. You can find more about the Trust and the wonderful work they do by heading to their website: https://steveburnetrust.co.uk
