Story
Hi my name is Georgia and I am 8 years old.
I would like to raise money for Bliss in honour of:
👶🏻 My cousin Dylan who was born in February 2024
👵🏻 My Nana ( who was born at 25 weeks but we won’t disclose her D.O.B)
👩🏻🍼and all the families who have babies born prematurely.
Bliss not only help with specialised equipment and research but also emotional support for parents.
I will be running 2km a day (with my mum) from 1st December- 24th, with a 2km family walk on Christmas Day to bring my total to 50km.
Please donate what you can as it will help families get the best care possible for their babies.
From Georgia xx
Bliss are also fighting the government to change the legislation/funding around when maternity pay starts and to increase paternity for parents with premature babies - currently using the same legislation as full term babies, which means that parents spend a lot of the maternity/ paternity in hospital and they feel the pressure to go back to work when they aren’t ready.
They are also fighting for more parent accommodation to be available, most units only have a handful of rooms which are used for critical cases or babies going home the next morning.
More from Bliss:
1 in every 7 babies born in the UK will need specialist care.
Bliss is the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick. They rely on donations to fund their work, and without our help they won't be able to reach the 90,000 babies needing neonatal care each year.
Your donation to my page will help Bliss to drive improvements in neonatal care, to ensure that the needs of babies are at the heart of policy and planning for the future, and to provide information and support to all families with a baby born premature or sick.
