Great North Run 2024

Great North Run 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·
Im taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK. Theyre the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with over 16,000 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable. Im determined to help Bowel Cancer UK to change that. The money you donate will help to provide support and information to patients and their families, enable them to fund and support research into bowel cancer and to campaign for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.
As some will know the last year has been very challenging after my Mums diagnosis with bowel cancer. She has been absolutely amazing and admirable throughout her whole journey and even all the hurdles along the way. For my family this was super unexpected news and was luckily picked up by the screening programme being implemented across the UK. Hopefully the statistics above will urge others to take up the quick test.
For me, this has been my parents collective third experience with a cancer of sorts so thought it was about time to pull my socks up (and running trainers on) to help raise awareness and also give back. Can only thank all of those who have helped support me and my Mum through all of this. I aim to try and make Mum as proud of me for doing this as I am proud of her for getting through this hugely tough year! Love you Mum, always my inspiration🩵
See you at the finish line! 🏁
