We’re Georgia and Jade — two mums, two friends, and absolutely not runners.

But this year, we’ve set ourselves a challenge that is daunting to us, to train from scratch and run the Hampton Court Half Marathon to raise money for a school that holds a very special place in our hearts.

Kingsley Special Academy is where Georgia’s son, Oscar goes to school. Oscar is a bright, loving little boy with complex needs — including autism and ongoing medical difficulties — and Kingsley has been nothing short of extraordinary for him, and for so many others.

Kingsley is more than a school. It’s a place where children who often feel overwhelmed by the world are met with patience, compassion, and joy. Where every child, no matter how complex their needs, is seen, understood, and believed in. Where families finally feel heard, supported, and less alone.

The staff go above and beyond every single day — providing communication aids, sensory tools, adaptive equipment, and, above all, love. They see the beauty in children that others might overlook. They lift them up, and they change lives.

But a school like this can’t do it all alone. Ongoing fundraising is vital to help them keep providing the specialist tools, equipment, and spaces these children rely on — things that basic funding simply doesn’t stretch to.

We’re running a half marathon — something that feels completely out of reach right now — because Kingsley deserves every ounce of support we can give. And so do the children, like Oscar, who fight quiet battles every single day just to feel calm, included, and understood.

We’ll also be holding smaller fundraising events along the way — whatever we can manage — because we know that even the smallest donation can make a very big difference.

This is more than a race for us. It’s for Oscar. For his classmates. For every child who walks through Kingsley’s doors and is met with love, care, and the chance to thrive.
