Story
On September the 5th myself and sister, Lauren, & Sarah, will be taking on a 21 mile walk over the Gower to raise money for Marie Curie.. this charity is very close to out hearts & here’s why. Please donate as little or as much as you can using our just giving page to do so. I’ll be doing little fundraisers at the Nine Giants along the way too.. we are not hikers by any means, so doing this challenge will really make it worth while & will push both our limits in the next 6 months.

Our Marie Curie Experience
In November 2024, our nan, Val Bull, was admitted to Marie Curie Hospice in Penarth after being diagnosed earlier that year. For 11 months she fought so bravely, in and out of hospital, until myself, Lauren & our family were caring for her at home. It was her nurse who gently guided us towards Marie Curie, and by the very next day they had accepted her into their care.
Our nan spent around two weeks at Marie Curie, and we can honestly say it was the most incredible, compassionate and caring place we have ever known. Every single person there, from the nurses and doctors to the receptionists and cooks, played a role that made a lasting impact, not only on our nan’s final days, but on us as a family too.
The team showed such selflessness, kindness and warmth, all while keeping spirits lifted during one of the hardest and saddest times of our lives. Our nan was treated with dignity, respect and so much love, and for that, we will be forever grateful. We cannot praise the Marie Curie team enough, they are truly special people who go above and beyond every single day. Ordinary, everyday people doing extraordinary things for families like ours.
On the 28th of November 2024, our nan peacefully passed away at Marie Curie Hospice with us & family by her side. The nurses recognised the moment and made the call to us, ensuring we were there with her, something that was hugely important to our nan. That final act of care, compassion and respect means more to us than words can ever express.
Myself, Lauren & family have supported Marie Curie through charity nights before, but this time we wanted to do something different, something that pushed us, something that reflected even a fraction of what these incredible people give. That’s why we’ll be taking on a 21-mile walk across the Gower in South Wales, to raise funds for Marie Curie and the vital work they do.
Every penny donated helps families receive the same care, comfort and compassion that meant everything to us. Thank you for supporting this challenge and for helping us give something back to a team who gave us so much 🤍
