James and I are running the GNR in memory of my wonderful Grandad Mac. He truly was one of the greatest people I have ever known. Grandad passed away in 2024 due to sepsis which unfortunately was not recognised by the hospital. We think that enhanced training could have prevented this, and we want to avoid the same thing happening to other families.

We’d like to raise awareness of Sepsis UK and fundraise to help prevent thousands of deaths and unnecessary suffering through greater knowledge and awareness of the symptoms of sepsis.

Sepsis UK also carries out vital support work, public awareness campaigns, educating health professionals and helping people adjust to life after sepsis through their support group network. They also lobby the government to support their cause and make vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
