Story
In April 2026 I'll be taking part in the TCS London Marathon to raise funds for Compton Care. I am running in memory of my lovely dad, Tom, who sadly passed away following a year long battle with cancer in December 2022.
Losing my dad in my early twenties meant losing my biggest cheerleader and number one supporter. He was the person who always believed in me, encouraged me, and celebrated every little success - so running this marathon feels like the perfect way to honour him and give something back to those who cared for him so compassionately.
Compton Care made the final weeks of my dad’s life as comfortable and peaceful as possible, providing exceptional palliative care both at home and at their centre. They not only looked after him, but also supported our whole family through those incredibly tough final days.
Since losing Dad, Compton has continued to be there for us through their bereavement services and their remarkable community support. Their work extends far beyond end-of-life care - they provide comfort, counselling, clinical care, and complementary therapies to patients and families living with life-limiting illnesses, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, completely free of charge.
I’m running to support this wonderful charity so that Compton can continue to be there for other families when they need it most - just as they were there for mine.
