Story
I can finally say it… I’m running the London Marathon 2027 for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)! 🏃♀️💗
Being able to take on something this huge while raising money for cancer research means more to me than I can really put into words.
Like so many people, I’ve seen the impact cancer can have on family friends, loved ones and people close to those I care about. Watching people you know go through it, or seeing someone you love worry about somebody close to them, makes you realise just how many lives are touched by cancer.
So, I’ve decided to do something about it.
The ICR is one of the world’s most influential cancer research institutes, with an incredible record of achievement spanning more than 100 years. Every day, their scientists are finding new ways to detect cancers, discovering new treatment options and carrying out research that has the potential to change lives.
And that’s what I’ll be running 26.2 miles for. 💗
Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps keep that research moving forward. It helps fund the everyday, essential work that builds towards those major discoveries.
To put it into perspective:
£20 could pay for PCR primers, short DNA sequences used to identify cancer-related genes.
£50 could buy a box of pipette tips, used by scientists every day during experiments.
£100 could power a high-resolution microscope for an hour, allowing scientists to examine cancer cells and track how they respond to treatments.
Over the next few months, I’ll be training for 26.2 miles, raising as much money as I possibly can and doing my little bit to support research that could help change the future for people affected by cancer.
This is going to be a HUGE challenge, but one I am so incredibly ready for.
If you’re able to donate anything at all, it would genuinely mean the world to me. And if you can’t donate, even sharing my fundraising page would be amazing. 💗
Help us make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
London 2027... Bring it on!
