Story
In November 2025, we - Georgie and Jess - are taking part in CoppaFeel’s CoppaTrek, which will see us trek 100KM across the Sahara Desert over five days. Although decidedly off-brand for us, we are doing this for an incredible cause: CoppaFeel, whose goal is to eradicate the late (and therefore often fatal) diagnosis of breast cancer through increasing awareness around it. One of the ways they do this is by giving talks at schools - including ours, which they visited when we were in Sixth Form and educated us on how to check our breasts for signs and symptoms.
It's a mission that I - Jess - hold dear, as it was when checking my breasts in 2020 - like we were taught to by CoppaFeel back at school - that I discovered a lump. After having the lump removed in November 2020, I was told that although it was benign, the cells around it were Stage 1 Breast Cancer and I would need radiation and a mastectomy - something I had never considered could or would affect me aged 22.
I am incredibly lucky that, a few weeks later, my diagnosis was later downgraded to pre-cancerous rather than cancerous. Unfortunately, it is highly likely this will develop into Breast Cancer in the future - which is something I am regularly monitored for. Without early diagnosis, I would never have this level of monitoring and so, I couldn’t believe more in CoppaFeel’s mission to ensure all breast cancers in young people are diagnosed early and accurately. Prior to this, I’ve told very few people about my experience (sorry if you’re finding out now!) but raising awareness is so important when it comes to this disease and its survival rates.
As such, we're sure you can understand why this is one of the only causes for which we would depart from our usual behaviours as lovers of home comforts, desserts not deserts and anything which isn’t camping. We are incredibly grateful for all donations - and hope you will enjoy the inevitable vlogs you will receive of us crying up (and down) a sand-dune.
Lots of love,
Georgie & Jess xo
