Georgina's 2024 fundraiser for Weston Hospicecare

Mendip Challenge 2024 · 2 June 2024 ·
In 2016, shortly after getting married, I took part in this event for the first time. It was a very hot day and I totally under-estimated the extent of the challenge I'd taken on. Not surprising therefore that, given I'd not done nearly enough training; I ended up with a torn calf muscle the day before my honeymoon....
Despite this, I loved the day and appreciated it was an amazing event therefore I have taken part as a marshall on several occasions since; manning water stations along the route. But 8 years on, I thought it was about time I took part in the actual walk again.
So here I am, trying to raise funds for this amazing charity who continue to help families around Weston super Mare and beyond.
Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, our team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Our social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £5.5 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community.
