Story
I am running the Manchester marathon and would be grateful for any contribution towards Alzheimer’s society.
There are currently around 1 million people in the UK living with dementia. 1in 3 people born today will go on to develop dementia. Alzheimer’s Society provides vital support to help people navigate the daily challenges of life with dementia.
Working with patients with Dementia as a Speech and Language Therapist I have seen how vulnerable this population are. Often as the disease progresses it impacts every part of their life - memory, language, swallowing, mobility and daily activities. Not only does it impacts the person but often family become carers. Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer so we need more research to be able to find a way to live longer and hopefully one day in my lifetime find a cure for this disease.
