Story
As a lot of you probably know I lost my beautiful Mum to Pancreatic Cancer this year at age 62.
She was so cruelly taken by this awful disease when she had so much of her life left to live and so many people are left with an enormous hole in their lives without her.
A group of us are going to be running the Manchester Half Marathon on October 13th to fundraise for Pancreatic Cancer UK, which will also be particularly special as it would have been her 63rd birthday on this day.
Pancreatic Cancer has one of the lowest survival rates of all cancers which is mostly due to late detection. More than half of the people diagnosed die within 3 months. My Grandad, John, was sadly one of those and our family lost him to this same disease back in 2010.
We were incredibly lucky to have had Mum for nearly 2 years after diagnosis despite a bleak prognosis, but it still should have been longer.
Pancreatic Cancer receives only 3% of all cancer funding due to the high mortality rates. They need significant support to help with research efforts to be able to find treatments to improve survival rates, survival time and also to help with earlier detection.
Anything you can donate to this fantastic course would be appreciated so much ❤️
