Story
70th Birthday comes as a shock which is rediculous given I have had 69 years to get used to the idea! I have been part of the Maggie's fundraing team for the Cardiff team since inception and using my 70th (29th November) as a reason to help raise much needed funds seems a natural thing to do.
Cancer touches all of us-old and young; family and friends; rich and poor- it is no respector of race, religion or status.
The Maggie’s Centre in Cardiff, which is in the grounds of Velindre Cancer Centre, is a place for anyone in South Wales affected by a cancer diagnosis to get support at one of the most difficult times in their lives.
The centre provides a breathing space away from the hospital where people living with cancer can meet people who understand what they’re going through. We help people take back control when cancer turns life upside down, with support for anything from treatment side effects to money worries. Our professional team provides help and information, and runs groups and activities, all designed to make coping with cancer easier.
Our beautiful building helps people find the hope, determination and resources they need to face cancer. You don't need make an appointment, you can come in when you're ready, at any stage, anytime.
Maggie's Cardiff is supporting over 300 people each week affected by cancer. Maggie's receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of our supporters. My target of £70,000 will pay to run Maggie's Cardiff for a month and really help 1200 people -isn't that amazing?
Please give generously so the people of South Wales can continue to be supported by Maggie's for when they need it.
