Story
This year, Aidan and Josh are excited to run the Manchester Marathon to support Helen & Douglas House Hospice.
Helen & Douglas House offers hospice care for babies, children, and young adults with life-shortening conditions. They provide medical, emotional, and practical support, helping families make the most of their time together. Their services include respite care, end-of-life care, and bereavement support, all delivered by a dedicated team of doctors, nurses, and support staff.
By running the Manchester Marathon, we hope to raise awareness and funds for Helen & Douglas House, enabling them to continue their vital work and support even more families in need. Your support and donations can make a significant difference in the lives of these children and their families.
Aidan says "having worked with this incredible charity for years, I've seen firsthand the remarkable care they provide to children and their families. During the pandemic, I was deeply moved by the dedication and compassion of the staff, which inspired me to do more to support them. So, here we are, ready to take on this challenge!"
Josh says, "I've undergone three hip operations and have two hip replacements ahead. This marathon is a personal challenge, pushing my limits and proving I can still take on something big. It won’t be easy, but knowing I'm running for such a worthy cause will keep me going every step of the way!"
Helen & Douglas House needs to raise over £3m each year to fund this care, and can't do it without your help. Losing a child is every parent’s worst nightmare, but Helen & Douglas House is here to help when it happens. They take care of medical and nursing needs, allowing parents to enjoy precious time with their children, sharing laughter and joy.
Helen & Douglas House creates special moments that matter every day, and we can't do it without your donations.
