Story
Annette has drug resistant epilepsy, and the resistance is annoyingly becoming stronger. She’s decided to take up the offer from some brilliant surgeons at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery of a diagnostic intracranial EEG study. Hopefully this will pinpoint the area of her brain where her epilepsy is triggered, and give her a definitive answer as to whether or not it’s operable at a later date.
I’ve been trying to think how I can make all this a bit more about me, and I think I’ve found the answer. Annette will be having her head shaved for the procedure - not her choice, but it’s essential. I’ve asked George from over the road to come to ours on Saturday 8th June, after he shuts up his barber shop, and shave my head. Easy, and not a single drill involved.
Over at least 3 decades the Epilepsy Society has been amazingly supportive and helpful to Annette. She’s stayed at their home in the Chalfont Centre quite a few times for diagnosis, drug changes, observation and MRIs.
Their vision is for a world where epilepsy is irrelevant, and where people with epilepsy lead the lives they want to lead.
