Gillian Scott is raising money for Cerebral Palsy Scotland

Sydney Marathon 2026 · 30 August 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

We're a charity that improves the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy through specialist therapy, support and information.

Story

Ciaran was diagnosed with cerebral Palsy shortly after birth. He attends the centre for much needed therapy but this comes at a massive cost to the family. Every therapy blocks brings him on so much, so any break in this send him back in his progress so I want to make sure the full year of therapy is paid for him. That way he can continue to progress into the amazing boy he is, and my cousin does not need to worry about how this will be funded

Over the last 16 years I have raised over £219.000 for charity, mainly for children with cancer. I then decided to fundraise for this amazing charity who give Ciaran such a lifeline

In 2025 I achieved my long awaited dream of achieving the Abbots World Marathon Majors Six star medal, having run all 6 majors - London, Berlin, New York, Boston, Chicago and Tokyo. Now they have added Sydney to the list of majors, I entered the allot and someone got in so I am going down under!!

I am due to run my 22nd great north run in September and my 26th and 27th full marathons with London in April and Sydney in August. My 14th annual charity ball will take place in November and there may be other events in between. I have been chasing my Abbots World Marathon Major 6 star medal for years having completed 5 of the 6 world Major's and I will receive this in Tokyo!!

Every penny will make a difference to Ciaran and to the charity, so I Really appreciate each and every single donation.

Here is a little bit about the charity:

The charity improves the lives of children and adults with cerebral palsy through specialist therapy, support and information.

We’re ambitious for people with cerebral palsy. For over 25 years our therapists have worked alongside people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers, helping them develop practical skills which transform daily life.

Founded by a group of determined parents whose children were unable to get the specialised therapy they needed close to home, we’re the only cerebral palsy charity in Scotland.
