Story
This will be my first ever marathon - and quite possibly my last!
As a teenager watching the London Marathon I was always inspired and thought that one day I would run it. But as so often happens, life takes over…..and I also realised I am most definitely not a natural distance runner.
Then at a charity event last year, my friend Louise and I were so deeply moved by the bravery of Evie, who lives with A-T, and by the strength of her family, that we signed up for London 2026.....and the training began.
Action for A-T provides support and funds high quality peer reviewed medical research to speed up the process of identifying a cure for Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T). A-T is a rare neurological disorder which primarily affects children, often appearing before the age of 5 and progressively impacts movement, coordination, and the immune system.
Since 2012 more than £5,700,000 has been invested in 60 A-T related research projects which offer hope to the families living with this devastating condition.
I’m aiming to raise £4,000 to support this vital work and help move closer to a cure.
Thank you so much for your support.
Gill
