Story
I am a member of the Peterborough branch of the Soroptimist Society who support a variety of projects and charities that focus on empowering and enabling the lives of women and girls. I am also a volunteer at the Garden House (homeless hub) at Light Project Peterborough, where I serve hot food, drinks and talk to the clients who need help.
In particular recognition of those women who are living on the streets and experiencing homelessness in Peterborough, I wanted to raise money for Light Project Peterborough (LPP). LPP provide several projects most of which focuses on those who are homeless within the city. Street Chaplaincy is one of these projects it involves a group of volunteers who provide a listening ear, a chat, guidance and a prayer to people in need. Chaplains will regularly come across women and girls who are vulnerable. The work of the chaplains follow the values and ethos of the Soroptimist Society hence why I'd like to raise at least £1,000 for LPP.
In 2025, I will be taking on hikes located in several locations including the Lake District, the Shropshire hills and valleys, the North Yorkshire Moors and the five inhabited islands of the Isles of Scilly, and I aim to walk 130 miles. This will be achieved over four separate walking weeks, taking three days to complete in each area. The hikes will start in March and finish in July.
I will be documenting my journey during each hike and would appreciate your support.
