It is with incredible sadness that I share the news that my amazingly wonderful wife, Sue, died on Tuesday 8th July 2025.

She was surrounded by love - our three girls, Helen, Karen, and Gillian, and her sister Anne, brother-in-law Tim and I were with her when she passed peacefully. It was a gentle end to a harrowing journey, and we are so grateful to the oncology team at Nottingham City Hospital and to the care home where Sue spent her final three days.

Those of you who joined us for our 50th wedding anniversary celebration - almost two years ago to the day - will remember Sue at her very best: organising a wonderfully complicated weekend of events, including steam trains, wherries, and endless food! She truly was a supremely wonderful organiser and took such joy in making sure everyone was looked after.

Having been a Queen's Guide and then a Brown Owl in several divisions for almost all her adult life, Girlguiding epitomizes her life of service.
