Story
I never imagined that I would be running a half marathon at the age of 67, but come 11 October this year, that will be me.
In early 2025 I was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. A few weeks earlier I had been ambulanced to A&E in severe pain, having had no previous symptoms.
I was amazingly lucky to benefit from cutting-edge treatment and surgery at Southampton Hospital and a great nursing support team on the Isle of Wight.
Now I want to offer hope and and support for others on the same journey, so I will be running a half marathon to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Action. This will help finance critical research into tackling ovarian cancer, which is the 6th most common cancer in women.
Running over the past year has boosted my mental wellbeing and helped me to make the most of the treatment I received, so I'm looking forward to rising to the challenge of a half marathon (21 kilometres).
Thank you so much for any contribution you make and for helping me to put something back.
