Laughing for a Cause: ‘London Ultra Comedy’ Night in Support of the Sickle Cell Society
Hi, I’m Gina! I’m performing at the London Ultra Comedy night to raise funds for the Sickle Cell Society. A cause that’s deeply personal to me. My cousin lives with sickle cell disease, and I’ve lost extended family members to complications from this condition.
Sickle cell disease is one of the most common genetic conditions in the UK, affecting around 15,000 people, predominantly those of Black African and Caribbean heritage. Despite its prevalence, it remains underfunded and often misunderstood. For instance, cystic fibrosis affects fewer people in the UK but receives significantly more funding and attention.
The Sickle Cell Society works tirelessly to support individuals and families affected by this condition, advocating for better care, raising awareness, and funding crucial research. By attending this comedy night or donating to this page, you’re helping to shine a light on sickle cell disease and support those impacted by it.
While my initial fundraising goal is £500, any amount raised beyond that will make an even greater impact.
Thank you for your support and for joining me in making a difference, one laugh at a time!
