On May 5th I will be attempting Belfast City Marathon and running in support of Cancer Focus NI 🏃‍♂️

I have chosen to help fund raise for Cancer Focus as they are a local charity that many will feel the benefit from. Cancer Focus are involved in supporting research at Queens University of an illness that hits close to our family home. They also provide a wide range of services to those affected by Cancer. Your support will go a long way in helping within your community.

A bit about Cancer Focus 👇👇

Cancer Focus, as an organisation, provides comprehensive care and support services for cancer patients and their families. Annually, they support over 6000 individuals, based in Northern Ireland, who are affected by cancer. They administer 4000 counselling sessions, address 2000 helpline inquiries, and aid 180 children with a parent living with cancer, while also conducting 600 art therapy sessions.

Cancer Focus offer a diverse array of cancer prevention programs aimed at reducing the risk of cancer occurrence. Each year, they engage with 68,000 children through school and nursery visits, organize community health events for 28,000 individuals, administer their Stop Smoking Service to 4000 smokers, and deliver training sessions to 500 healthcare professionals.

In addition to their support and prevention initiatives, Cancer Focus actively contribute to advancing scientific research into the causes and treatment of cancer. They have invested over £11m in local cancer research endeavours, supported the Department of Oncology at Queen's University, facilitated research focused on mitigating the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in women with the BRAC1 gene, and funded public services informed by research conducted by Ulster University.
