Story

The Walled Garden in Barshaw Park is a beautiful space that is maintained by volunteers who are members of Friends of Barshaw Park. Recently, they were devastated to discover that the yard behind the garden had been broken into and maliciously damaged. The doors to our tool-sheds had been forced open and the doors destroyed. Tools were broken or scattered about the yard, and some had even been set on fire. The estimated repair cost is £2,000.

They have ambitions to see the derelict outbuildings restored and put to use as studios and workshops and a Men’s Shed, but at present, these buildings are unsafe and these plans have been set back as the money saved towards this is now going on repairs.

Barshaw park has been a place for families and loved ones to meet and gather for over 100 years with a walled garden, model yacht club, miniature rail way and many of our Renfrew & Glasgow based colleagues have fond memories of times spent here as both children and adults.
