I’ve always loved sport — especially football and running — because of the freedom, confidence and community they bring. Taking on the London Marathon is an exciting new challenge for me, and I’m proud to be doing it while fundraising for Metro Blind Sport, a charity that creates life-changing opportunities for people with visual impairments to get involved in sport and physical activity. As someone passionate about staying active, I know how powerful sport can be, and Metro Blind Sport helps make that possible for so many others. Since childhood, running has helped me keep fit, given me a sense of community, and even led to my career (I work in a sports injury clinic). I've run the London Marathon a few times and was actually starting to feel I'd done it for the last time, until a friend introduced me to Gledi. I was immediately struck by his sense of enthusiasm and can-do attitude. When Gledi told me he wanted to run London in under 3 hours, I initially thought he was crazy, but after training with him I can see he definitely could (although I'm still trying to persuade him to be sensible for his first marathon). Training with Gledi has renewed my love for running and I'm really inspired by his positive, can-do attitude. I'm really proud to be part of his marathon journey.
