Story
We are cycling from Manchester to Aberdeen to raise money for Middle East Children's Alliance (MECA), who are working to bring vital aid to children in Palestine and the surrounding area who are enduring suffering and displacement in the face of ongoing conflict and continued occupation and colonisation of their lands.
By doing this ride, we hope to not only raise money for this charity but to spread awareness of the work that they are doing and the reality of the situation in Palestine along our route and to our family and friends by sharing our training and updates along the way.
We will be completing this ride on vintage steel touring bikes, carrying all our own food, equipment and tools without any support vehicles, whilst cycling through the countryside and cities of Northern England and Scotland.
We are aiming to complete the full route of 736km in five days and will camp for three of four nights and stay with relatives and friends for one night on the road and when we reach Aberdeen. An outline of our route is as follows:
Day 1 – Manchester to Kendal: 139km, 970m ascent
Day 2 – Kendal to Moffat: 155km, 1,310m ascent
Day 3 – Moffat to Helensburgh: 132km, 950m ascent
Day 4 – Helensburgh to Kinross: 129km, 730m ascent
Day 5 – Kinross to Aberdeen: 181km, 1390m ascent

The Middle East Children’s Alliance is a nonprofit organisation working for the rights and the well-being of children in the Middle East. MECA supports dozens of community projects for Palestinian children and refugees from Syria. Since 1988 we have delivered $25 million in food and medical aid to Palestine, Iraq, and Lebanon. MECA welcomes the support of all people who care about children and their future.
