Marathon Des Sables Legendary 2026 · 2 April 2026 to 13 April 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Since our formation we have provided financial support to a number of cancer charities. Currently St Francis Hospice is the main beneficiary of this support. Together we recently held a very successful ' Charity Ball' in London to raise funds to enable them to continue their wonderful work.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm about to tackle the biggest physical test of my life: the Marathon des Sables, a gruelling 250km race across the Sahara Desert over 7 days. Known as one of the toughest footraces on Earth, it demands self-sufficiency amid brutal desert conditions—scorching heat and endless dunes.

What started as a one-time tribute has transformed my life. In 2019, I signed up for a charity spot in the London Marathon to honour my beloved brother Gary, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2014 after spending his final months at Saint Francis Hospice. That race ignited a passion—I’ve since run multiple marathons worldwide and conquered several ultramarathons, all while raising awareness for this incredible cause.

Since 2014, the YJS Charitable Trust has partnered closely with Saint Francis Hospice, donating over £250,000 by the end of 2025. Our latest gift covered the full cost of running the hospice on Christmas Day 2025, ensuring families received vital care during the holidays.

Saint Francis Hospice provides specialist palliative care to anyone diagnosed with a serious illness, regardless of faith or background, in Havering, Brentwood, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, or West Essex. Their team offers expert, empathetic support—from pain management to emotional guidance—helping patients and families navigate life's toughest moments.

Why Your Help Matters Now

Shockingly, Saint Francis Hospice receives only 28% of its funding from the government. To deliver these life-changing services, they must raise nearly £8 million annually through donations like yours. Every contribution makes a difference—whether it's funding a nurse's visit, a counselling session, or a moment of comfort for someone like my brother Gary.

Join me in this journey. Donate today and help Saint Francis continue their essential work. Your support could change lives—thank you!
