Story

At 10 weeks old, our son, Orie, contracted meningitis and spent 3 weeks in hospital. It was the most emotional and traumatic situation that Beth and I had experienced. We relied on the experts at the Queen's medical centre in Nottingham to bring our boy back to full health. We met many parents in a similar situation as ourselves, which made us realise how important the staff and all-round care was.
Thanks to the skills and dedication of the staff at the hospital, Orie has made an amazing recovery, yet still requires medication 3 x a day to protect him from contracting meningitis again.
We are enormously grateful for all staff on E37, D floor and children's A&E for everything they have done. It is for this reason that I am running the Robin Hood Half Marathon to raise money for Nottingham children's hospital to support future children and parents.
