Global REACH fundraising for Orphan kids school feeding at House of Hope Orphanage Home-Ganta

Fund Raising for feeding and Sustaining the Education of Vulnerable Children at House of Hope Orphanage School in Ganta, Nimba County
At Global REACH, our mission is rooted in empathy, justice, and lived experience. We are raising critical funds to provide daily nutritious meals and ensure stable education for children aged 4 to 12 at the House of Hope Orphanage Home and School in Ganta, Nimba County, Liberia, a place of deep personal significance to me the Mr. Lester Yarseh, Executive Director, including many Liberian citizens.
In 1989, during Liberia’s civil conflict, I, including many Liberian children, lost our parents, as was the case with me, Mr. Lester Yarseh's father, in the tragic Lutheran Church Massacre. As a displaced child, he found safety, care, and the chance to continue his education at the House of Hope. That orphanage became his first real home after an unimaginable loss. Now, as head of Global REACH, I am committed to giving back to the very place that once gave me hope and a future.
Today, the children at House of Hope face challenges that mirror my past: poverty, trauma, and chronic hunger. Many arrive at school each day without having eaten. This severely undermines their ability to learn, participate, and grow physically, emotionally, and academically. Hunger is not just a health issue, it is a learning barrier.
The House of Hope Orphanage School 2024-2025 had an initial enrollment of 250 children, which included not only orphans but also a few children from the surrounding community. However, due to worsening financial constraints, particularly the inability to provide meals and pay staff wages regularly, enrollment has now dropped to just 195. This decline is not only alarming but deeply disheartening for caregivers, educators, and the community.
Mot. Alice Gonleh, the dedicated founder and manager of the orphanage, has expressed deep concern over these setbacks. She reached out to Global REACH seeking immediate redress and partnership to stabilize the school and restore hope to the children under her care for the 2026-2027 academic school year.
Like many small institutions in underserved areas, the House of Hope struggles to generate income. The school faces ongoing difficulties in paying teachers and caregivers, many of whom have gone months without salaries. This affects morale, increases staff turnover, and reduces the quality of instruction, creating a downward spiral in the children’s educational experience.
That is why we are launching this urgent fundraising campaign to:
• Provide at least one nutritious meal for each child at $1 daily.
• Ensure timely payment of wages for teachers and caregivers.
• Improve enrollment and create a safe, dependable learning environment.
• Provide agriculture training for the orphan children between the ages of 12 to 24
This effort is more than a feeding program, it’s a mission of restoration. It is about feeding minds, fueling dreams, and honoring the past by transforming the future.
We call on partners, donors, philanthropists, religious institutions, and compassionate individuals to stand with us, to help us feed, sustain, and empower the children of House of Hope, just as it once empowered a young boy named Lester Yarseh from age 2 to 12.
Together, we can return hope to where it began.
