Marathon running

Chickenshed is a children's charity and theatre company founded in 1974. We nurture and empower children and young people from diverse backgrounds through our education courses, workshops and shows. Over 60% of the young people we reach experience isolation due to disadvantage.

Story

In 2025, several members of the Global Switch team will be taking on the challenge of running marathons in our data centre locations across the globe.

We are delighted to have secured six places in the London Marathon through Chickenshed, a renowned UK charity championing diversity and inclusion in theatre. Over the past few years, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing some of Chickenshed’s incredible performances, and we remain inspired by their transformative work.

In addition, we are grateful to Schneider Electric for their generosity in providing ten places for the Paris Marathon. Our goal is to raise £12,000 to support Chickenshed as they celebrate their 50th year. Anything you can donate will directly contribute to their vital mission of using theatre to change lives and empower individuals to flourish.

A heartfelt thank you to Adam Blackwell from Chickenshed and David Abrahams from Schneider Electric for making these opportunities possible.

The amazing team tackling the marathons are:

Paris (April 13th): Anthony Burke, Chris Papageorgiou, James Cofone, Joseph Ditch, John Martin, Karan Chandracant and Mark Hillier.

London (April 27th): Aki Morioka, Anthony Burke, Francesca Lewis, James Cofone and Sam Hodson

Your support means the world to us - and to Chickenshed. Every contribution helps make a difference. Thank you!
