WE’RE BACK FOR OUR 8TH YEAR!

After another record breaking 2023 for us in terms of fundraising, it’s that time of year again for us to bring some festive cheer to the great people of Falmouth (and visitors!) whilst raising much needed funds for a truly fantastic cause.

This story started out around 16 years ago with my now late father wanting to ‘out-do’ our neighbours by putting a few lights outside our house in Paignton. I continued this in his memory, even when living in a first floor flat in the centre of town (thanks to the flat roof of the shop below me) and due to the reaction, I put the positivity towards raising funds for charity.

Upon moving in with my now wife, given we had no obvious place to show the lights, my future in-laws asked whether I’d put them up at their house which we did in December 2017 - starting with approximately 15 different items. Due to the incredible reaction we have had since starting here, we have grown the display every year to the point now where we are pushing nearly 70 different lights!

To be honest, the reaction we get is enough to keep us doing it every year , but add on top of that the amount of money we have been able to raise for charity, we feel compelled to continue.

Fortunately, to make our fundraising more effective, my wife and I both work for HSBC who will kindly match the money we raise (up to £1000) so for every £1 donated up to our target, £2 will go to Children’s Hospice South West. Whilst we have not been able to confirm a definitive total, we are confident that our total fundraising to date since we started in 2017 is around £10,000 which is incredible!

As ever, given people’s circumstances we would be incredibly grateful for any donation, now matter how big or small, as every penny will really make a difference for this wonderful charity so please dig as deep as you can.
