In memory of Glynn Kirkham (18th June 1947 – 17th January 2026)

We are raising funds in loving memory of my dad, Glynn Kirkham, who was born on 18th June 1947 and passed away on 17th January 2026.

Glynn grew up in Ellesmere Port, and like many children, he experienced a complex and challenging childhood. Education was not always straightforward for him and his journey included setbacks along the way. However, through determination, resilience and a deep commitment to learning, he went on to achieve remarkable success.

Glynn dedicated his life to education. He began as a class teacher and went on to become a Headteacher and leader, later working as a lecturer, consultant and advisor, influencing education not only across the UK but also throughout Europe. He passionately believed that education could change lives — because it had changed his.

Having grown up in Ellesmere Port, Glynn would have wanted to support a charity that focuses on children’s access to rich, engaging learning experiences, especially for those who may be struggling or disadvantaged. That is why we have chosen to support Passion for Learning CIO.

Passion for Learning is a local charity that recruits adults from all walks of life, bringing their experiences, enthusiasm and skills to children who are struggling to read and learn. They provide vital support to mainly primary-aged children, helping to develop their reading and writing skills, while also raising aspirations through continual enrichment and positive relationships.

By supporting this cause, you are helping to give children in Ellesmere Port and Cheshire the opportunities Glynn believed every child deserved — to feel inspired, capable and excited about learning.
