Story
I am excited to share that I will be participating in the Great North Run on September 7, 2025, to raise funds for the South Tees Hospitals Charity, specifically for the Teenage and Young Adult cancer Services at James Cook University Hospital.
My journey began in February 2023 when I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, which is a form of blood cancer. As a TYA patient at James Cook, I experienced firsthand the incredible support provided by the team. Their dedication not only helped me navigate my treatment but also significantly uplifted mine and my family's mental wellbeing during those challenging two years.
Throughout this period, I faced numerous hospital appointments and admissions, each made more manageable by the compassionate care of the TYA team. Their work is vital in ensuring that young people diagnosed with cancer receive not just medical treatment but also emotional support tailored to their unique needs. The TYA team also work to provide a more relaxed environment in which young people can spend time during these periods and opportunities to meet other young people in similar situations.
This is why I am committed to raising £250 for this charity. Your contributions will help continue this essential support for other young individuals facing similar battles. Together, we can make a difference in their lives and ensure they do not have to face these challenges alone.
