Story
The Rainbow Trust has been a massive part our lives. Having a poorly child is not what any parent dreams of and Nikki, our Rainbow Trust Family Support Worker, has always been on hand to help with anything we need; from school pickups to hospital visits or just keeping us all smiling. There’s even been the odd NERF battle!
The Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity is an amazing charity that supports families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness. When a child has a serious illness, family life is turned upside down and time together becomes more precious than ever. The Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of their time together, giving practical and emotional support whenever they need it and for as long as they need it. They support the whole family, parents, carers, the unwell child, brothers & sisters and even grandparents.
This year I wanted to do something to thank them for their continued support as they get zero funding from the Government. So, along with some crazy friends, I have come up with the following:
During May, I will row the distance of Dover to France and back THREE times, this is roughly 96,000 meters!!!
On the 5th - 7th July, along with my crazy friend, Paul and I will take on the Bath to Bournemouth off road which will be approximately 90 miles
Finally, on 7th / 8th September I will be taking part in the South Coast Ultra Challenge a 57km walk which involves climbing 1,250m and covers the best of the South Coast & Seven Sisters.
You’re probably wondering WHY???? It’s simple, I want to give something back to the charity that has done so much for me and my family AND so many other families. Every penny my crazy friends and I raise will go straight to The Rainbow Trust to allow them to continue to help more families with seriously ill children. Thank you so much for anything you are able donate.
Love
Godfrey and Paul
