Golf Marathon to raise Money for Pediatric Cancer Patients!!
Once again we will be raising much needed monies for the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Pediatric Oncology team! Over the past 6 years we have played more than 650 holes and raised over $140,000 for Dr. Jean Tersak and her fantastic team!
This July 25th, Bruce Berman, Brad Aurila, Pat Bostick and Rick Platt will be teeing it up at Chartiers Country Club and playing another 100+ holes and raising money for this great cause.
As in the past, all monies raised will support critical pediatric cancer projects focused on finding better treatment pathways, improving survival rates as well as to study the long term impacts the treatments have. This year in particular we are raising money to help families in need with things like transportation to get to visits, meals during long day stays, etc.
This golf marathon, alone, has assisted in doubling the number of clinical trials available to Survivors in Pittsburgh - and your support has made that difference.
While survival rates for childhood cancer have greatly improved, we need to better understand the long-term impacts both the disease and treatments that save them have on these patients. Successful courses of treatment mean that there are more pediatric cancer survivors than ever before.
Dr. Tersak, Director of UPMC Children’s Hospital Survivorship Clinic, states it best:
“With so many survivors, we now have the opportunity, not to mention the obligation, to be sure we help childhood cancer survivors to live the healthiest, fullest lives possible as cancer survivors.”
Please cheer us on and if you can donate, as we play a lot of golf and help the great team at Children's in Pittsburgh and their peers across the nation
