Playground music and STEM installation

Anna Townsend is raising money for Friends of Goose Green School
FOGGS looks to support projects that improve the well-being and learning opportunities for the children of Goose Green.

Story

We kick started our fundraising with over £4,000 raised through the Mini-Marathon and Marathon events.

We need to continue to raise more to reach our target of £15,000

What we'd like..

We are working on a design for a bespoke, pedal powered musical playgroud installation.

Our dream is to have an installation which includes the following exciting features:

A set of pentatonic scales, arranged in a way to teach children about pitch, composition and improvisation.

A bank of instrumental accompaniments, from a range of genres that the children can select and improvise over.

A bank of familiar songs that the children can sing, dance along to or play along to.

A touch pad drum kit, so the children can accompany the songs or the improvisations.

An option to change the instruments/ instrument families so that the children can learn about timbre and duration.

An entirely pedal powered installation to keep the children physically engaged and active and to teach the children about sustainability.

Currently, the type of pedal powered musical installation we'd like, costs over £30,000 for design, groundworks, parts, coding and installation but we are working on getting a bespoke design, discounted for Goose Green School. There are other outdoor playground companies and options we are researching, so no final decision has been made with regards to the installation. Once we near our target, we will will build a working-party to ensure we have the best possible pedal powered, multi-sensory, inclusive, educational and fun installation that all pupils can enjoy for years to come.
