Story
In September I will be part of an inspiring 40tude team attempting to walk 100km through the Namib Desert, “one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet.” Why, you may well ask? Didn't you just do the Ginza Ridge Challenge?
Unapologetically, I undertake these challenges each year to draw your attention to colon cancer testing. Sometimes the best intentions to get tested just drop off the "to do list":
Colon (bowel) cancer is the number one killer of non-smokers in the UK, but it is one of the easiest cancers to treat if it is detected early. 40tude’s aim is to encourage everyone to get themselves tested for this treatable cancer, ideally from their mid-40s.
If you can make a donation it would be hugely appreciated. But the most important thing you can do is to get yourself tested regularly for colon cancer, and encourage your loved ones to do the same.
It’s really easy to get tested: FIT is a simple test that can be done at home. 40tude has partnered with Selph, a well-regarded provider of at-home tests. You can buy a qFIT (high-sensitivity poo test) via Selph's website at: https://www.selph.co.uk/tests/q-fit-bowel-cancer-test
We are also rolling-out testing in a national campaign through a company by company initiative called our Half:Time Campaign. If you know of any company who would take this on please get in touch. Here is our film that accompanies the campaign: https://youtu.be/3YSG9BPxsCo
Together we can reduce the number of families affected by colon cancer.
