Story

'Inspiring the Maritime' !! We can all do this if we dream big and go for it !

No act of kindness is too small. The gift of kindness may start as a small ripple but over time can create a tidal wave affecting the lives of many. Believe in yourself, dream big, have the courage to make it happen but remain humble and lift others whilst on your journey 🤗

My Zambezi River Challenge 2025 for September was unfortunately cancelled by the expedition company which was beyond my control. If this has impacted your choice of donation you are welcome to contact me on LinkedIn.com to discuss.

Never fear though as the fundraising continues as I have now sourced this Costa Rica Eco River Challenge that is even more daring ! It involves a combination of trekking, mountain biking, white water elements and kayaking and plus it still has crocodiles. I will showcase inspirational people and organisations along the way. I aim to raise £20,000 over the next 12months for two very important charities.

• In the past I have been propelled by nuclear, steam, air, engines, electric, and jet pump. Now I will use human power.

• The entire expedition prioritises environmental friendliness, sustainability and citizen science, ensuring it leaves only footprints behind.

• I wish to show the next generation that if someone like myself from social housing, a broken home and a challenging childhood can do it then so can they – Dream Big.

• This will primarily be about inspiring others but ultimately it’s about raising funds for two fantastic maritime charities very dear to my heart.

• Drawing on my 40 years in the maritime world, this campaign will tell my story as I celebrate my 60th birthday and do something just as ambitious as the Mt Kilimanjaro challenge I completed in 2023.

In November 2025 I will Mountain bike, trek and paddle the 250km from coast to coast of Costa Rica. From the Pacific to the Caribbean through jungle and wild rivers on a 12 day expedition. I will cross the continental divide. I will get sore feet and sore butt by mountain biking and trekking through national parks and jungle. I will paddle the Pacuare River and avoid hungry crocs. This will be entirely at my own expense as I am self funded. All donations will go towards my two chosen charities;
