Story
Hello friends,
As you read this, I’m off shore taking part in the Clipper Round the World Race. I’m sailing with Team Scotland (CV22) and am hoping to raise an amount of money for UNICEF that is roughly equivalent to the amount of miles we will travel in our race across the Southern Ocean.
FAQs:
"I didn’t know you sailed, how did this happen?" Always wanted to, finally got around to it, and now it’s a big part of my life.
"Is it a big boat?" Yes, it’s a 70ft Clipper Racing yacht.
"Where are you racing to?" Right now, we are racing across the Southern Ocean from Cape Town in South Africa, to Fremantle in Western Australia, about 4800 nautical miles.
"Isn’t that scary?" Yes of course, but that’s why it’s great to be doing it with Clipper, who have done this many times. I'm also lucky enough to have a hugely experienced Skipper and first mate, yachts that are designed for this, and after an fantastic training programme.
"Can I track your race?" Absolutely, the race tracker can be found here https://clipperroundtheworld.geovoile.com/2025/tracker/, I'm on Team Scotland (CV22). (Warning: The race tracker is highly addictive!!)
"Are you excited?" Yes!!
UNICEF has been both a Charity and Team Partner for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race since the 2015-16 edition and during this time has raised £1.6 million for children around the world.
