Story
In October 2025; Lee, Sam and Myself as “Team John” will be embarking on the Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge to raise vital funds for the MSA Trust.
My Uncle David ( Gosso, Goss and more affectionately, Ted) was diagnosed with Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) a few years ago. MSA is a rare neurological disease characterised by the degeneration and eventual loss of nerve cells in multiple areas of the brain.
MSA is a progressive disease, there is no way to slow its progression, likewise there is no cure either.
So, why walk 50km? My Uncle was a keen runner and a run followed by a post run curried breakfast was a staple of each weekend. I fondly remember joining in on these whenever I would visit (although as a child this mostly involved a little jog then a sit down to watch the waves!) The curried breakfasts for me were definitely the highlight! Since running is out of our collective talents, we have decided to walk 50km as a tribute to my uncles running days.
MSA trust is the only charity in the UK and Ireland dedicated to providing specialist support for those affected by MSA. The MSA trust rely entirely on voluntarily donations. With this in mind; any donation that can be made, big or small will mean so much to us, my uncle and his family. 💖
