Gough Group on The Way up Snowdon

Snowdon Sunrise for The Way · 12 April 2025 ·
Gough Group is gearing up for a challenging and rewarding endeavour. On 12th April 2025, a team of 20 intrepid employees will embark on a night hike up the formidable Yr Wyddfa (Mount Snowdon), Wales' highest peak, to raise vital funds for The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton.
The team will commence their ascent under the cover of darkness, aiming to reach the summit in time to witness the breathtaking sunrise over Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. This gruelling challenge will test their physical and mental endurance while showcasing the company's commitment to supporting local communities.
Since opening its doors, The Way Youth Zone has become a beacon of hope in Wolverhampton and has been a safe haven for over 19,500 young people. Open six days a week, it provides a staggering 20+ activities daily, from sports and arts to employability workshops and mentor support. With an annual membership of just £5 and free meals for young people, The Way ensures no one is left behind. During the winter months, the 50p entry fee is also waived,, further reducing barriers to access. This inclusivity has been key to its success.
The Way Youth Zone offers a range of activities and programs, including sports, arts, and education, designed to providing a vital lifeline for many young people in the city. The funds raised by Gough Group will directly support these essential services, ensuring that young people have access to the opportunities they deserve.
"We are incredibly proud of our team for taking on this demanding challenge," said Charlie Gough. "The Way Youth Zone provides invaluable support to young people in Wolverhampton, offering a safe and inspiring environment where they can learn new skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential. We are honoured to contribute to their vital work."
According to the 2024 Social Value Report by youth charity OnSide, every £1 invested in Youth Zones generates over £13 in Social Return on Investment. This means safer, happier, and more confident young people who feel free to enjoy their childhood and dream big about their futures. In the last year alone, The Way’s impact has been remarkable for the young people who attend:
• 43% have reported increased confidence.
• 45% have developed stronger social skills.
• 31% have raised their aspirations and achievements.
The Way celebrated its 9th birthday on 16th January and are looking to build on the great work done by all of the team at the Youth Zone with ambitious goals: to be open 40 hours a week across all 7 days, offering even more activities and opportunities to improve employability, mental health, and physical wellbeing for young people across the city.
This vision will require ongoing dedication and investment. For more information on the great work that The Way Youth Zone does, please visit www.thewayyouthzone.org and follow the Gough Group or The Way social media accounts.
