Running the Potters Arf for The Hubb Foundation

Grace Baker is raising money for The Hubb Foundation

Potters 'Arf 2026 · 4 October 2026 ·

The Hubb Foundation is an independent and socially-inclusive charity dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children and families in Stoke-on-Trent by fighting hunger, improving physical and emotional well-being, raising aspirations and fostering resilience.

Story

I am running the Potter's Arf 2026 again this year to continue to raise money for The Hubb Foundation. Since starting my PhD, I have learnt all about the amazing work this charity does to support children and families within the city. From speaking to teachers, children, and parents, it is clear that the work the charity does is vital, having a huge positive impact on children and families during the school holidays.

They support children and their families through school holidays by providing a safe space, fun activities and food, which for many households may be difficult. School holidays can be difficult for families due to increased costs and reduced incomes. This can lead to a holiday experience gap with children from disadvantaged families less likely to access enrichment activities, more likely to experience unhealthy holidays in terms of nutrition and physical health and more likely to experience social isolation. Returning to school in poor physical and mental health can have a detrimental impact on children's wellbeing and their educational attainment.

The Hubb Foundation work with a wide range of businesses and organisations across Stoke-on-Trent to allow disadvantaged children and their families to access much-needed free provision. By providing free meals and enriching activities, they aim to support the community by developing children's physical, mental and emotional wellbeing whilst positively affecting social change and creating happy memories.

All children should have the opportunity to experience a happy and healthy school holiday.
