Story
I will be taking part in the Oxford Half Marathon to raise money for Abbie’s Army. This charity supports children who are diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) by researching the condition and how those affected by it can best be supported. This is an aggressive brain tumour which affects children between the age of 4 and 11. There is no cure to DIPG.
As a primary school teacher, last year I had the great pleasure of teaching a beautiful little girl who was unfortunately diagnosed with DIPG. She passed away in March this year, and this half marathon is a way to celebrate and commemorate her and the bravery that she showed. She was admirable in her battle and her fight never wavered, and this half marathon will be in memory of her.
