Story

Dear all,

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. On 8th March 2026 I will be running/staggering round the Cambridge Half Marathon course to raise money for the Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust.

On 10th April 2025 our youngest daughter, Grace Hunt, was born at 28 weeks gestation by emergency C-section at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

Following birth, Grace spent 14 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Ward of the Rosie Hospital, Cambridge. Grace was born weighing 735g and during the first few weeks battled chronic lung disease and NEC (necrotising enterocolitis) and underwent an emergency exploratory laparotomy due to a suspected bowel obstruction, which resulted in removal of her appendix at what should have been 36 weeks gestation.

The care and support which Grace, myself, Paul and Grace's sister Bethany received whilst Grace was in the NICU was more than we could have ever dreamed.

Since discharge Grace is thriving and is now a laughing, smiling baby who is loving weaning and can't take her eyes from her sister.

We are so thankful for the treatment and support that Grace received and wanted to say thank you in a small way by raising funds for Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT).

Within the NICU, ACT have provided a parents room which enables parents to stay overnight with their baby, specialised diagnostic equipment such as a portable CT scanner, video software to allow parents to see their babies when they are not able to be at the hospital, training for staff and been involved in funding many other projects. ACT also funds projects across Addenbrooke's hospital and has done since the 1990s.
