On the 27th of April 2025 I will be running Manchester Marathon to raise money for Long Covid Kids which is a charity which is very close to my heart. I first caught covid in October 2021 and for the following 2 years Long Covid controlled my life. It stole my happiness, independence and any sense of a normal teenage life. I went from being a healthy, very active teenager to not being able to go to school for more than a few hours a day, and even that was making me very unwell. I was out of full time education for 2 years and during that time I learnt a lot about myself; I found a level of determination and resilience that I didn't know I was capable of and I hope I can now apply this to marathon training.

When I was unwell I decided I wanted to do something which would mark that I was fully recovered ... so here we are training for Manchester Marathon.

While suffering with Long Covid tasks as simple as walking up a flight of stairs felt like running a marathon, so although running isn't something which comes naturally to me I want to seize every opportunity and take full advantage of the fact that I am now well enough.

Long Covid Kids is a charity which supports children suffering with long Covid and other chronic illnesses as well as offering support to their families. Their main goals are to raise awareness, conduct research and advocate for those who can't. Any sized donation, big or small will have a huge impact for those still suffering and would be massively appreciated.
