Story
Mum said she’d never run a marathon again. I thought the chances of me running 26.2 miles and actually getting a place were extremely slim.
Turns out Mum lied, the chances weren’t quite as slim as I thought, and now we’re running it together!
So, seeing as we’ve got ourselves into this situation and the reality is starting to sink in, we want to make all those miles count by raising money for a charity that means a huge amount to us both.
We’re running for Barnardo’s. Barnardo’s works to support children, young people and families through some incredibly difficult circumstances, helping them feel safe, supported and able to thrive. Through my work as an Early Years teacher, I see every day how important it is that children have the right support, opportunities and people around them from the very beginning. Barnado's is also the charity that my Nanny Sylvia worked for as a nursery nurse and it means so much to us to now be fundraising for a cause that she cared about so deeply.
We’re hoping to raise as much as we can for Barnardo’s and would be SO grateful for any donation, big or small. Every penny will help us get a little closer to our fundraising target — and, importantly, give us something to think about when our legs inevitably stop working somewhere around mile 20.
Please donate if you can, share our page, and help us get over that finish line… preferably with the promise of a very large glass of wine and a trip to the pub waiting at the end.
Thank you so much for supporting us — and Barnardo’s. 💚
See you at the finish line...
