Story
In August 2023, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. Not great. But after a surgery, 12 rounds of chemotherapy, and another surgery, there's "no evidence of disease". This is much, much better.
I'm taking part in the Great North Run to raise awareness of how this type of cancer is trending younger, and it really can strike when you least expect it to.
I had no symptoms beyond some blood in my stool, and was otherwise healthy and gym-going. Easy to dismiss. But scheduling a colonoscopy was simple. Anyway, I was a few weeks from the age that guidelines suggest that you get your first ‘screening’. Why not, eh?
I’m pretty glad I did. We caught it early enough to do something about it, which is a huge deal. The earlier you catch it, the better the chances of surviving.
My goal is to raise 1,000 GBP for Bowel Cancer UK, which does incredible work saving lives and improving the quality of life for those affected by bowel cancer, and I would be truly grateful for your donation.
