Story
Many cancer journeys like mine 12 years ago start and finish with the NHS. Specialist units in normal hospitals in the community administering fantastic care to you at a vulnerable time. You hear about charities like Maggie’s, but in the midst of your treatment you might not necessarily explore further or understand the level of support they can provide to both you and those close to you. It was only after speaking to my wife Lynne many months later that we realised that perhaps she would have benefited from the resources available to her at the time and wish that we had made use of them. It’s a tough shift for your family during stressful and uncertain times. The haven of a Maggie’s might go some way to making things a wee bit better. I’m delighted to be supporting them today and hope you will be able to do so as well.
Maggie's has approached local business leaders and entrepreneurs and ask if they would be prepared to be locked up for Maggie's. To our delight they agreed, and here we are today. Our courageous jail birds have been charged with outrageous fictitious crimes and are now in cuffs and behind bars!
Bail for each has been set at £1,000 and now the criminals have been sent down to contemplate their crimes and go about raising funds to pay their bail.
Having traded in their freedom for Maggie's the challenge they face is to muster all their powers of persuasion and call on the collective goodwill of their networks to raise funds for Maggie's Cancer Centres. Their freedom & their reputation depend on it!
Jail or bail is sure to be fun for everyone involved, but let's not forget the important reason behind the event: to raise funds to support people with cancer.
Thank you
